Central Board of Secondary Examination [CBSE] has declared the date and exam pattern of online Joint Entrance Examination JEE [main]-2013, for those who want admission to undergraduate engineering programmes in IITs, NITs, and other centrally-funded technical institutions [CFTIs].
JEE will be held in two parts–JEE [main] and JEE [advanced]. Now AIEEE will be known as JEE [main] and IIT-JEE [advanced].
According to the recent declaration, JEE online [main] will be held between 8 and 25 April, and the exact date will be announced later. The JEE [main] exam, which was earlier called AIEEE, will be conducted in both online and offline mode.
Only the top 150,000 candidates [including in all categories as per reservation policy] based on performance in JEE [main], will qualify to appear in the JEE [advanced] examination.
Admissions to IITs will be based only on category wise all-India rank in JEE [advanced], subject to condition that such candidates are in the top 20 percentile of successful candidates in Class XII or equivalent examination conducted by boards in applicable categories .
Candidates who wish to secure admissions in the IITs will have to appear for the JEE [advanced] paper.
Those students who have appeared in the Class XII Board examination in 2012 and wish to improve upon their performances for the purpose of JEE will be required to appear in all subjects, as per scheme.
