CBI to approach Interpol in VVIP chopper scam case

Update: 2013-04-10 21:38 GMT
The Central Bureau of Investigations will approach the Interpol for issuance of red corner notices against three middlemen in the chopper scam.

The three middlemen are Guido Haschke, Christian Michel and Carlo Gerosa.

‘To go further in our probe we will have to approach Interpol to issue RCN against these three as their questioning is important,’ the CBI sources said.

Whereas Guido Haschke and Christian Michel are said have been intermediaries between the helicopter firm and the Tyagi brothers who allegedly facilitated the chopper deal, Gerosa too received money in the deal.

They were allegedly paid kickbacks through former air chief SP Tyagi’s three cousins, Julie, Sandeep and Dosca Tyagi. The former air force chief who is facing the probe has been denying the charges.

In his confession Haschke had said that his commission of 20 million euros or 3.5 per cent of the chopper deal, was received through bogus engineering contracts. He has also claimed that he met Tyagi several times, both before and after the technical requirements of the contract were allegedly changed.

Of the 20 million euros, Haschke has claimed that 60 percent or 12 million euros was passed on reportedly to the three Tyagi brothers, the Delhi-based businessmen who have been named in the investigation report. The remaining 8 million euros, Haschke says, was divided between him and his partner Carlo Gerosa who had been active in the Indian business sector for several years.
