The FIR has been filed against Revati Cement Private Limited Company along with all the members of the 36th Screening Committee of the government in connection with the ongoing probe into irregularities while allotting coal blocks from 1993 to 2005 and 2006 to 2009.
CBI spokesperson said, ‘Revati Cement promoters Umesh Shara and Kailash Shara, along with director Chinmay Palekar, have been named in the first information report (FIR). This is the 23rd FIR in the case related to allocation of coal blocks.’
Several raids were conducted by the investigating agency across India including Indore and Satna before booking them them with criminal conspiracy (section 120 B IPC), cheating (section 420 of IPC) and criminal misconduct (Sec 13 (1) (a).
In 2012, the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG) in a report mentioned that due to irregularities in the whole process there was a notional loss of Rs 1.86 trillion to the national exchequer. Then the audit agency claimed that the allocation process was flawed and possibly fraudulent.
