CBI arrests Aligarh Development Authority VC

The vice- chairman of Aligarh Development Authority was on Wednesday arrested by the CBI for alleged irregularities in the award of contract and utilisation of funds relating to Mid-Day Meal Scheme in Mainpuri district of Uttar Pradesh.

JB Singh, the then chief development officer of Mainpuri, who is currently posted as vice-chairman of Aligarh Development Authority, was arrested in connection with a case in which Sachidanand Dubey, the then DM, Mainpuri (now retired) is also an accused. ‘The accused are alleged to have caused a wrongful loss of Rs 6.38 crore (approx) to the government exchequer and corresponding wrongful gain to themselves,’ CBI spokesperson said here today.

On the orders of Allahabad High Court, CBI had registered the case into alleged irregularities which took place during the period between March 2008 and 2011.

CBI had filed a chargesheet on 5 August, 2013, under IPC sections related criminal conspiracy and cheating besides provisions of Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
