According to police, three persons have been arrested for the robbery conducted at Kanwal Jeet Jawa’s residence. Two days ago, Rs 11 lakh was stolen from the residence of Daikin Air Conditioner Private Limited’s managing director.

One of the accused has been identified as the carpenter, who often goes to Jawa’s residence in Greater Kailash Part-I. In the recent past, when the carpenter, identified as Khalil (23), was in need of some urgent money, he would approach one Rohit (22), a resident of Mithapur for help. In return, Rohit allegedly asked Khalil to give him details of some houses, where they could steal large amounts of cash and jewellery.

During interrogation, Khalil confessed that he shared information about Jawa’s house and accordingly Rohit, along with his friend Rahul, hatched the robbery on Tuesday evening. Khalil Ahmad has studied up to 9th standard. Since he was not interested in studies, he joined the family business. Presently, he was doing carpentry work in various south Delhi colonies. Rahul, a resident of Badarpur, was working at a factory in Okhla as loader. Rohit Kumar is a graduate from Delhi University in History and has applied for LLB (first year) to Meerut University.

At the time of robbery, two persons entered in the house on the pretext of delivering a courier package to Jawa’s wife. After entering the premises, they restrained the servant, Raju, by tying him up in a chair at gun point. Jawa and his wife were not present in the house, while Jawa’s aged parents were sleeping in their bed room.

‘The robbers then tried to break the almirah kept in Jawa’s bedroom. However, they were unsuccessful in doing the same. Thereafter they went to another room where Jawa’s parents were sleeping. The armed assailants got the keys of almirah and took out another locker and other valuables items,’ a police official said.
