Six persons were killed when their car rammed into a stationary dumper parked near Sai Mandir at GT Karnal Road in Outer Delhi’s Alipur area in the wee hours of Friday.

The deceased have been identified as Amit Singh (30), Vikas Singh, Ansar Ahmad, Nishant Kumar (37), Vivek Tiwari (21) and Deepak Yadav (30). Meanwhile, police have arrested the dumper driver,
Santosh (35)from Bakauli village in Alipur and have also impounded the vehicle.

According to senior police officers of the Outer district, “We received a call regarding an accident on NH-1 at around 4.30 am. The Ford Ecosport car hit a loaded punctured stationary truck. All six people were declared brought dead in Raja Harish Chandra hospital.”

At around 2.20 am, the collision took place between the car and the dumper in which the car was decimated beyond recognition, said family members of Deepak. They were informed by the cops to reach Babu Jag Jivan Ram hospital’s mortuary.

Senior police officers are investigating whether Deepak, who was driving the car was inebriated or fell asleep. However, refuting the allegations that Deepak was driving under the influence of alcohol, Santosh, Deepak’s cousin told Millennium Post that “Deepak was a family man and pillar of the family,”

“Deepak’s father owns two brick kilning machines. They are financially stable yet to ensure that he is able to support his family back in village as well as give his son best education, Deepak worked hard. Three months back, he got his three and half-year-old son admitted into GD Goenka School,” said Santosh.

Likewise, family members of other deceased failed to understand as to what made them take that impromptu trip. “When Amit left his home, he did not tell me exactly where he was headed. His work requires him to travel across various places like Panipat, Sonepat, Karnal etc. So I did not ask him any question. He just told me to keep his house keys as he would be late,” said Manish Singh, Amit’s relative.

Meanwhile, Vivek Tiwary’s friend got to know about the incident early in the morning when Tiwary’s phone was answered by a policeman who was posted on duty. “The police informed us that Vivek had died in an accident. We immediately went to the hospital,” said Vivek’s friend who was waiting for his body at the BJRM hospital’s mortuary.

A case has been registered under Sections 304 A (causing death due to negligence) at the Samaypur Badli police station.
