Can transform Bihar in 7 months: PM

Update: 2015-07-25 23:34 GMT
Addressing a massive political rally at Muzzafarpur, Modi promised to change the face of Bihar in just seven months if BJP is voted to power in the Bihar Assembly elections. However, the Prime Minister did not say when or how much special package for the state would be announced.

“The previous Prime Minister, who was in power for 10 years, had come here once, but the fact that I have not come here in 14 months is worrying the Chief Minister. But don’t worry now, I have arrived. You will not have to take this for very long and if you want change in Bihar, peace in the state, freedom from unemployment, liberation from a ‘goonda raj’, give us (NDA) an opportunity. We will deliver all of these to you in just seven months.”

Kickstarting NDA’s poll campaign in poll-bound Bihar, Modi focussed his attack on former BJP ally and incumbent CM Kumar, accusing him of “back-stabbing” the people of the state and alleging that there is some problem with his “DNA”.

Modi also targeted Kumar for allying with the RJD, saying he was trying to drag the state back to ‘jungle raj’, and asked the voters to reject such people as they “cannot be trusted” again and <g data-gr-id="85">elect</g> the NDA with a two-thirds majority for changing Bihar’s fate. The PM dubbed RJD “Rojana <g data-gr-id="86">Jungleraj</g> ka Darr” (the fear of jungle governance every day) and appealed to the people to give the NDA a complete majority in the upcoming assembly polls, which is due in October-November this year.

“I have inaugurated projects worth crores of rupees today and Bihar is set to get Rs 3.45 lakh crore in various schemes. I have come to promise you 24-hour electricity in Bihar... If there is no electricity, how will you charge mobile phones, how will you watch serials like Kyunki Saas <g data-gr-id="79">bhi</g> <g data-gr-id="80">kabhi</g> bahu <g data-gr-id="81">thi</g>?” Modi said.

“During the last elections, Kumar had said that if he was unable to provide electricity to entire Bihar, he would not come to ask for votes again in 2015... But have you got the electricity? It has not come. But he has come to ask for votes. He betrayed your trust. Forget me, he even <g data-gr-id="77">back-stabbed</g> you.
Such people cannot be trusted again,” he said.

Seeking to play the Dalit card, he said that Nitish had practised “political untouchability” not only towards him but also towards “<g data-gr-id="84">mahadalit</g>” former Chief Minister Jitan Ram Manjhi, an erstwhile leader of the JD(U) who has since joined the NDA.
