Two suicides have been reported in Delhi in the past 24 hours. In the first incident a charted accountant student committed suicide and in other, a taxi driver hanged himself.
An aspiring chartered accountant identified as Upma Singh, 21, hanged herself from a ceiling fan at her rented house in Laxmi Nagar in east Delhi on Sunday morning.
‘Her body was discovered by her roommate around 11.30 am when she returned from Faridabad. She immediately called the police,’ a police official said.
The official added that a suicide note was recovered from her study table. ‘In the note she blamed her failure in an exam for her extreme step,’ the official added.
The girl hails from Bihar. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination and the autospy reports are awaited.
In the second incident, Harsh Rawat, 40, a taxi driver, committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan at his house in Swaroop Nagar area in north Delhi.
Rawat’s body was found hanging by his wife Saturday evening. He was depressed due to financial losses, the police said.
‘A suicide note has been found in which he talked about financial loss,’ said an officer.
