On Monday morning, a 39-year-old businessman was shot at by a man on a motorcycle in west Delhi’s Tilak Nagar area. The victim is stated to be critical and the accused remains absconding.
According to the police, the incident took place at around 9.30 am when Jitender Rawat, a resident of Rajouri Garden, was standing outside his oil shop in Tilak Nagar. Meanwhile, a person wearing black helmet approached Rawat on an unidentified motorcycle and shot him.
‘The accused that fled from the crime scene shot Rawat five times. Out of five rounds of firing, Rawat received three bullet injuries on his body. The neighbourhood shopkeepers, who witnessed the incident, came forward to nab the accused but he sped away on his bike and managed to escape. None of them were able to note down the bike’s registration number that could help us get some clues about the accused,’ the official added.
A call to police control room was made by a person, after which a team of cops reached the spot and took Rawat to a nearby hospital in the PCR van. He immediately underwent an operation to take out the bullets. So far his condition is stated to be critical.
During investigation, five empty bullet shells have been recovered from the spot that has been sent for forensic examination. Prima facie it seems to be a case of personal enmity.
