Businessman robbed of Rs 32 lakh, car at gunpoint

A local businessman was robbed of Rs 32 lakh and his car at gun point by four unidentified armed persons in Raj Nagar area here, police said on Sunday.

The incident took place on Saturday night when Ajay Garg, a local iron dealer was returning home after completing his work at iron market, 
they said.

The four accused intercepted Garg’s car when his driver Suresh was about to park the car outside his house and robbed them at gunpoint, a senior police officer said.

All the four accused fled in Garg’s car leaving behind the car in which they came. The businessman told the police that there was a bag in his car which contained Rs 32 lakh.

The robbers also attacked the businessman’s driver with a razor blade when he resisted their robbery attempt, he added.

A case has been registered at Kavi Nagar police station, police said, adding that investigations are on to nab the accused.

Meanwhile, angry over city’s businessmen being targeted by the robbers, and police failing to provide any security to them, the Loha Vikreta Association has called an indefinite strike from Monday.

The association’s officials alleged that there have been several robbery cases in which city’s businessmen were targeted.
