Businessman robbed of Rs 22 lakh

 A dealer of spices and herbs was robbed of Rs 22 lakh by eight armed men while he was returning home in North Delhi’s <g data-gr-id="26">Keshavpuram</g> on Saturday night. The suspects, loaded in a car and on a motorcycle, waylaid his car and robbed him after firing several shots in the air. The accused are yet to be identified.

It is important to mention that it is the second robbery by armed men in the district within 24 hours. According to police, the eight robbers confronted the victim in Maruti Swift car and a motorcycle. They intercepted two men Satish and Sanjay near Wazirpur Flyover while they were <g data-gr-id="29">travelling</g> in a Maruti Ritz car. The duo men work for Saket Aggarwal, the <g data-gr-id="28">spices</g> and herbs dealer. He had a business in Khari Baoli market near Chandni Chowk.

At the time of the incident, the duo shut the shop and left for home with the day’s collection to hand it over to Aggarwal. They had kept the money in the car’s <g data-gr-id="27">diggy</g> and were on their way to Aggarwal’s residence. In the <g data-gr-id="33">mid-way</g> they were intercepted by the robbers who shot at the car’s windshield upon which the victims stopped the car.

“The victims were asked to get down off the car to <g data-gr-id="30">handover</g> the money. As the assailants were carrying arms with them, the victims handed over the cash bag. After robbing the bag, six of the assailants fled away in the car while the other two tried to flee on the motorcycle. However, the bikers developed a technical fault, forcing them to abandon the vehicle there. But they suddenly spotted a motorcycle passing by upon which they fired a shot at him and robbed his bike and fled away,” the official said.
