PowerGrid commissions Kurukshetra transmission line

 State-owned utility player PowerGrid Corporation today commercially commissioned the Champa-Kurukshetra Pole-I electricity transmission line.

"Trial operations of 1,500 mw, Pole-I of 800 kv HVDC Champa-Kurukshetra transmission system has been successfully completed and the pole has been put to commercial operations, starting today," PowerGrid said in a statement.

According to statement, the power transmission system is part of interconnector transmission system for IPP projects in Chhattisgarh. With the commercial operation, the Champa-Kurukshetra HVDC transmission line has been commissioned at a total cost of about Rs 6,300 crore. Further, Pole-II of 1,500 mw capacity is also expected to be commissioned by June 2017.
