NLC India Ltd declares ex gratia payment to contractual employees

Neyveli: NLC India Limited is a model employer in implementing various welfare measures to its employees and the contractual employees engaged.

Recently, the Trade Unions representing contract workmen submitted certain demands including wage raise and regularisation of services. The NLCIL management proactively constituted a committee to facilitate the process of bipartite discussions and to ensure smooth discussions and settlement.

Accordingly, the issues raised by the Trade Unions representing contract workmen are being discussed by the bipartite committee to arrive at an amicable settlement.

While the discussions are on, as a gesture of goodwill the NLCIL management, on its own volition, has announced an additional payment in the nature of Ex-gratia ranging from Rs.2,000 to Rs.3,000 to the contract workmen, over and above the Bonus amount of Rs.14,200 to Rs.19,000 for different skill categories payable by the contractors to them during this month. Thereby the total amount receivable by a contract workman for the ensuing Deepavali festival will be around Rs.16,200 to Rs.22,000.
