The Lufthansa Group marks a key milestone in Indian aviation by bringing the most modern and environmentally friendly long haul aircraft, the Airbus A350-900, to Delhi. Starting February 11, 2017 India becomes the first destination worldwide to welcome the new aircraft and Lufthansa is the first airline to start commercial operation with this latest plane to India.
In addition to increased capacity, the innovative new aircraft raises the benchmark on efficiency and travel comfort, reaffirming Lufthansa's commitment to India. "With the A350-900, Lufthansa scripts a milestone in their fleet-strategy by entering the 2 liter fleet-category.
This state-of-the-art aircraft marks a generational change on long-haul routes with 25% less fuel consumption, 25% less carbon dioxide emissions and 50% less noise", says Carsten Spohr, Chairman of the Executive Board and CEO Lufthansa Group.
During more than half a century of presence, Lufthansa has demonstrated on several occasions that India is an important strategic market for Lufthansa as a leading aviation group. "To meet the foreseen tremendous growth coming from this region, we bring our best product to India and emphasize that we want to further strengthen and underline the importance of India on the global map", shared Carsten Spohr.
By linking India to the world, Lufthansa Group supports the rapid globalization of India's industry - brings in investor and tourists and connects the Indian leisure and business travelers to the whole world. For the Lufthansa Group, 2017 marks the year of digitalization. Until 2020 the Group invests over 400 million Euros to create more individualized products and services to guarantee their guests a smooth travel experience.
