India showcases textile innovation

NEW DELHI: Heimtextil 2025, a premier global event for interior textiles and home furnishings, commenced in Frankfurt, Germany, and will conclude on 17 January. The India Pavilion was inaugurated by Union Minister of Textiles Giriraj Singh, alongside B. S. Mubarak, Consul General in Frankfurt, Rohit Kansal, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Textiles, and R. K. Verma, Executive Director of the Export Promotion Council for Handicrafts (EPCH).

Singh highlighted India’s blend of heritage and innovation, underscoring its commitment to sustainable and cutting-edge textile solutions. He invited global buyers to explore the diverse offerings at the India Pavilion, which hosts 18 exporters showcasing their collections across multiple halls.

EPCH Chairman Dileep Baid stated that India’s participation adds vibrancy to the fair, providing opportunities for international brands and retailers to engage with India’s strong capabilities in textiles, home furnishings, and consumer products. He emphasised the country’s competitive advantage, derived from its mix of traditional craftsmanship and modern production techniques. Rakesh Kumar, Director General of EPCH, noted that Heimtextil serves as a platform for unveiling eco-friendly designs and trends, boosting India’s global standing in the industry. Indian handicraft exports reached USD 3.96 billion in 2023-24, with Germany accounting for USD

184.88 million.
