New Delhi: CH S S Mallikarjuna Rao assumed the charge of Managing Director and CEO of Punjab National Bank on October 1. Prior to this appointment, Rao has been serving as Managing Director and CEO of Allahabad Bank since September 19, 2018. Before this, he served as Executive Director of Syndicate Bank since September 15, 2016.
Rao has been a professional banker for over 34 years having held position as General Manager & CFO in Oriental Bank of Commerce. He had also worked as Assistant Vice President in erstwhile Global Trust Bank before joining OBC. He started his career in 1985 as a Probationary Officer in Bank of Maharashtra. He has vast exposure in Credit, Recovery, Treasury, Risk Management, Information Technology, Management Information System, Retail Banking, Marketing, Publicity & Alternative Delivery Channels.
In his career spanning over 3 decades, Rao has headed various branches covering Rural, Urban & Metro locations as well as headed various verticals like Information Technology, operations, cash management services. He has also been a Core Member of IT Integration Project for merger of Two Banks for 2 years.
