Bureau of Energy Efficiency confers Yojna Bhawan with 3 star label

On the occasion of 63rd anniversary, the 3 Star Label was awarded to Montek Singh Ahluwalia, Deputy Chairman of Planning Commsion of India  by  P Uma Shankar, Secretary of Power  at Yojana Bhawan, New Delhi.

Various other dignitaries were also present including  Ashok Lavasa, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Power and Jyoti Arora, Joint Secretary and Director General, Bureau of Energy Efficiency and  Sanjay Seth, Energy Economist, Bureau.

Speaking on the occasion,  P Uma Shankar, congratulated the Planning Commission on its 63rd Anniversary and the commitment of the Planning Commission under the leadership of Montek Singh Ahluwalia, in converting the Yojana Bhawan as an energy efficient building through incorporation of various energy efficiency and conservation. 'We are very glad to award the Yojana Bhawan with a 3 Star Label, inrecognition of their efforts towards energy conservation,' said P Uma Shankar.

Ahluwalia welcomed the support provided by the Ministry of Power and Bureau of Energy Efficiency inawarding 3 Star label to Yojana Bhawan coinciding with the 63rd anniversaryof the Planning Commission. He was happy to note that the Bureau ofEnergy Efficiency would further support the Yojana Bhawan in achieving a 5 star label. Jyoti Arora, Joint Secretary and DG, BEE informed that BEE has developed a Star Rating system for buildings which is based on the actual performance in terms of its specific energy usage in kwh/sqm/year. The system rates office buildings on a 1-5 Star scale, with 5 Star labelled buildings being the most efficient.
