At least seven persons including two women were critically injured after a building collapsed due to pre-monsoon rain in Loni area of Ghaziabad early on Thursday. The victims, who were trapped inside the rubble of the collapsed building, met with the accident when they were busy in repairing the three-storey building. The rescue teams reached the spot immediately after the incident and managed to rescue four persons till evening who were admitted to a hospital in Delhi.
As per the report, the incident took place in Uttranchal Colony at around 10.30 am. As the area has been witnessing rain for the last four days, the house was being repaired. When the owner Ashok Kumar and several labourers were busy in lifting the building with jacks, cracks surfaced on it. The people who were at the site were trapped inside the debris as the building collapsed on them.
The neighbours, who heard the sound, rushed to the spot and called the police. Rescue teams, including fire services and ambulances, managed to rescue four people till the report was filed fearing three more trapped inside. The police informed of rescuing the owner, Ashok, and three others — Vinod, Santosh and Ramu who were admitted to a nearby private hospital from where they were shifted to GTB hospital. Police informed that the rescued victims have suffered severe injuries and their condition is said to be critical.
“Search and rescue operation was launched immediately. We have found four people who are critically injured,” said an official.
