Reacting over the Budget, the Opposition BJP said that the Budget presented by Manish Sisodia is nothing but an ambitious and clever exercise to hide the failures and inability of the government to achieve the targets set for 2015-16. The speech of the Deputy CM cleverly hides the failure of the government to achieve its 17-point poll promise made to the citizens of Delhi and the speech of the Finance minister is an “old wine in new bottle”.
Leader of Opposition Vijender Gupta, said that the Delhi government has failed on both financial and implementation fronts. It had earmarked an allocation of Rs 19,000 crore under the plan during the current financial year. But it has been reduced to Rs 16,400 crore, reflecting a short expenditure of Rs 2,600 crore.
Training all guns towards the AAP government’s second Budget, leaders of the three BJP-ruled Corporations said that neglecting the recommendations of the Fourth Finance Commission is an injustice to the civic bodies. The agencies said that despite huge increase in tax collection and enhanced Budget of Rs 46,600 crore, the government has not spared any additional amount for civic amenities.
The Leader of House in the South MCD, Ashish Sood, described it as disappointing as far as the three MCDs are concerned.
“The government is nonchalant in giving any hike in the allocation for the civic bodies whereas, it is making hollow claims of allocating Rs 1,000 crore more than the last year’s allocation. It has again rejected the recommendations of the Fourth Finance Commission while finalising the Budget proposals.
Had the government taken into consideration the recommendations the MCDs would have been allocated an amount of more than Rs 8,500 crore,” he said.
