A day after killing of a BSP councillor in Ghaziabad, another attack was witnessed on the son of a BSP heavyweight and former UP minister in neighbouring Gautambudh Nagar district.
The victim, Ravindra Bhati (40), son of Vedram Bhati, was shot at by car-borne assailants in Dankaur area of Greater Noida on Saturday night. Bhati sustained bullet injuries during the attack and was admitted at a hospital in Greater Noida where he is recuperating with his injuries. Police have registered a case while no arrest has been made yet.
Praveen Kumar Yadav, SHO of Dankaur, said, ‘Bhati was returning from his brick kiln in Mandi Shyam Nagar when the attack took place. On the way he stopped his car to relieve himself when three men approached him in a Santro car and asked the address of brick kiln owner. When Bhati said that he was the owner, one of the criminals opened fire at him and ran away.’ Police officials suspect that Bhati was disguising some facts about the incident. The victim claimed that he followed the criminals to some distance in injured condition. ‘Bhati could not provide the vehicle number or any clue about their identity. His claim of following the criminals in injured state does not corroborate with his narrative,’ the SHO said.
A case has been registered against unknown criminals in Dankaur police station. ‘We are investigating the matter to know the exact cause of incident,’ he added.
