BSE cos regain Rs 100 trillion market cap mark

The total market valuation of firms listed on the BSE regained the Rs 100 lakh crore mark on Tuesday following a rally in stocks. The total market capitalisation (m-cap) of BSE listed companies stood at Rs 1,00,01,254 crore at the end of trade on the day. The benchmark BSE Sensex rose by 45.35 points to settle at 26,079.48. The barometer had gained 195.42 points in the previous session. “Bulls continue to rule the Indian benchmarks in line with its global partners. Domestic investors continue to show their buying interest which helped the indices to continue their northward journey,” said Gaurav Jain, Director, Hem Securities. 

Of the 30-Sensex constituents, 19 ended with gains while 11, led by BHEL, Coal India, Hindustan Unilever and ITC, fell. Bajaj Auto, followed by Mahindra and Mahindra and Hero MotoCorp, were the top gainers. The total market valuation of all listed firms at the BSE had first hit Rs 100 trillion on November 28, 2014. 

BSE is among the world’s 10 largest exchanges in terms of market value, while it is the largest globally for number of companies listed on its platform. Over 2.9 crore investors trade on it.
