Brothers killed by neighbours over land dispute

Two brothers were killed and several other family members were injured when a fight broke out between two families because of a long-standing land dispute. The victims’ family alleged that their members were attacked with iron rods and sticks.

Police said that the family was attacked by the accused family after a fight broke out between the children of the two families. The entire episode was triggered after the adults of the two families got involved. 

“Victims’ family was building a house and a tractor carrying dust broke a roof slab kept outside the house of accused family. Victims were attacked after short heated arguments,” Assistant Commissioner of Police Hawa Singh said.

History of the families state that both these families have had long-standing land disputes because of which they never got along. 

The two families have been living in Vikas Nagar colony of Sector 10-A for five years, where their families have been fighting with each other.  

The incident took place on late Friday evening and a case has been registered in Gurgaon’s Sector 10 police station.

The deceased have been identified as Vijay (28) and Rohit, alias Ajay, (32). A woman family member of the victim family has also been seriously injured in the incident. The injured were first admitted to Gurgaon’s civil hospital for their treatment but were later referred to Delhi’s Safdarjung hospital where there are undergoing treatment.

Sources within in the hospital revealed that the injured are in a critical condition and nothing can be said about them. Additional commissioner of police Kishori Lal had rushed to the hospital to meet those who were injured, immediately when the police were informed.

According to sources, the victim family belongs to Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh. The accused family is from Rajasthan. No arrest have been made in this matter.
