Bring 26/11 perpetrators to justice: US tells Pakistan

Update: 2013-11-27 23:28 GMT
‘As President Obama has stated, the Mumbai perpetrators, financiers, and sponsors must be held accountable for their crimes,’ a State Department spokesperson said as India is marking the fifth anniversary of the Mumbai terror attacks on Tuesday.

‘These kinds of terrorist attacks are an assault on the collective safety and security of us all. Our governments are cooperating closely to combat the threat of global terrorism,’ the spokesperson said.
Five years after the terrorist assault on Mumbai, the United States stands with the people of India in mourning the innocents lost and continuing to seek justice, the official said.

‘On that terrible November day, the world watched with horror as terrorists seized one of the world's greatest cities killing and wounding hundreds of innocent men, women and children, including six Americans,’ the official said.

‘Despite the carnage, the perpetrators failed in their mission. The display of courage, resolve and unity displayed by Mumbaikars was stronger than those cowardly acts of terrorists. Five years later we have not forgotten,’ the spokesperson said.

26/11 victim to sue Taj Hotel

LONDON:  A British man paralyzed during the deadly Mumbai terror attacks in 2008 is suing the owners of the Taj Mahal Palace Hotel, alleging that they did not properly secure the building despite warnings that an attack was imminent. Lawyers for Will Pike said on Tuesday that they are bringing a civil claim for damages at London's High Court against the Indian Hotels Company Ltd., part of Indian conglomerate Tata Group.

Lashkar-e-Tayyebba is stronger than ever, say experts

WASHINGTON: Five years after the horrific 26/11 attacks, Lashkar-e-Tayyebba (LeT) is stronger than ever and remains the ‘favoured instrument’ of Pakistani military and the ISI against India, US experts have said. ‘Lashkar-e-Tayiba is stronger today than ever. It has a secure stronghold in Pakistan, networks in the Gulf for fundraising and cells in the Pakistani diaspora in the UK, UK and elsewhere. It is a major threat to India, America and others,’ Bruce Riedel, former CIA analyst and a top American expert on South Asian counter-terrorism issues said. Experts and ex-administration officials reiterated the ISI of Pakistan continues to support LeT, which they warned now poses an equal threat to the US and India. Anish Goel, who served as senior director for South Asia in National Security Council (NSC) of the White House in President Barack Obama’s first term, said, ‘To my knowledge, LeT has not been significantly weakened in recent years, so it undoubtedly still poses a significant threat to India.’
