BPCL eyes 150% rise in Bina refinery capacity to 15 mt

State-owned Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd (BPCL) plans to more than double capacity of its Bina refinery in Madhya Pradesh to 15 million tonnes, MP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said on Saturday.

Chauhan had a meeting with Steel Minister Narendra Singh Tomar, Fertiliser Minister Ananth Kumar and Petroleum ana Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in connection with a planned investor meet.

‘We discussed ushering industrial growth in the state, and it was discussed to increase the Bina refinery to 15 million tonnes from 6million tonnes at present.’

The meeting took place in the backdrop of the ‘Global Investors Summit’ to be held from October 8 to 10 in Indore’. Pradhan said, ‘We discussed the supply of LPG directly to homes through pipleline in cities like Bhopal, Gwalior and Ujjain.’ The Bina refinery in Sagar district, MP, is owned and operated by Bharat Oman Refineries Ltd (BORL). BORL is promoted by BPCL.
