Boy kills father; mother takes blame on herself

Uncertainty hovers around the death of a 50-year-old man who was stabbed to death in his home in South-west Delhi’s Sagarpur. According to police, the son killed his 50-year-old father over drinking and consequent beating habits.

According to an officer privy to the investigation, the son, who is in his early 20’s stabbed his father several times in a fit of rage which ultimately led to his death. The deceased has been identified as Virender.

On the contrary, senior police officers of the South -west district maintained that on Thursday morning police received a PCR call at around 10.30 am from Chandra hospital that a 50-year-old man had been stabbed. Based on this information, police reached the hospital where they found Virender dead. His wife, Pushpa (45) told the police that she killed her husband.

Virendar lived with his 45-year -old wife, Pushpa, two sons and a daughter. According to neighbours, Virender was an alcoholic and mostly remained unemployed. He worked for sometime as a contractor in MCD. One of the neighbours told police that they often heard loud noises emanating from Virender’s house. According to police, the murder happened between 9-10:15  am inside the house. To ascertain the exact time of death, police have sent the body to Deen Dayal Upadhayay hospital for post-mortem after which it will be handed over to the family for last rites. 

The investigating officer told Millennium Post: “Virender was married to Pushpa for around 25 years. They often fought over his drinking habits. He often beat his wife and children after consuming alcohol. When Nitin, one of Virender’s sons, saw his father beating his mother on Thursday morning, he took the kitchen knife and allegedly stabbed Virender multiple times.”

Meanwhile, the officer informed that they have detained all the family members of the deceased and are questioning them at length to know what exactly led to the murder. “Arrests are likely to be made by late Thursday night,” added the officer.
