With efforts still underway to recover the body of a UP minister’s daughter after she drowned in river Ganga near Rishikesh, the Uttarakhand Chief Minister on Monday said raft and beach camp operators along the banks of the river should issue an advisory for tourists during the rafting season.
Efforts to trace the body of UP Minister Shahid Manjoor’s daughter Abida continued with the help of professional divers and rafters but so far they have yielded no results, Laxmanjhula police station in-charge Amarjit Singh said. Abida, 24, a medical science student from Meerut-based Subharti Medical College had gone, along with six of her friends, to bathe in the river on Sunday when she was swept away by its strong currents.
The police immediately launched a search operation with help from rafters and divers, Singh said.
