The mutilated body of a two-year-old girl, who had gone missing from her residence in east Delhi’s Kalyanpuri around three days ago, was found inside a gunny bag thrown in a drain in the same locality on Saturday morning. A case of murder was registered and investigation was later taken up by the Special Staff of east district of Delhi Police.

It is suspected to be a case of personal enmity as the family members of the girl did not receive any call demanding ransom money, nor was there any sign of sexual assault. Medical Examination of the girl’s body further confirmed that the death had occurred at least 24 hours before the body was discovered. Even some parts of the body were bitten and chewed by stray animals, said a police official.

The girl lived with her parents and siblings at a rented accommodation in Kalyanpuri B-block and her father works as mechanic in a motor repair shop. It was their landlord’s son, Sumit, who discovered the body and called up the police control room. The body was immediately rushed to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital.

The girl was last seen playing outside her house on Wednesday afternoon.
