In her letter to the Election Observer for the bypoll, BJP state president Tamilisai Soundararajan alleged that her party’s campaign team were attacked by AIADMK workers and accused both AIADMK and DMK of violating the model code.

“Hence, the election, which is scheduled to be held on February 13, should be postponed,” she said.
Alleging that the BJP candidate’s convoy was attacked by AIADMK workers, she said the police remained “mute spectators.”

The Election Commission “did not take any concrete action against them,” she said.

Soundararajan alleged that AIADMK and DMK had deployed their men from across the state for campaigning and many unauthorised vehicles were being used.

Karunai alleges money distribution

Seeking prompt action by the Election Commission, DMK president M Karunanidhi on Monday alleged that the ruling AIADMK was distributing money to voters in bypoll-bound Srirangam assembly constituency. "Money has been distributed by the ruling party to voters last night... The district administration, the police and the Election Commission have joined hands and have done this," Karunanidhi alleged in a statement.
