The main leader of the Opposition in Delhi Assembly, Vijay Kumar Malhotra, on Monday said Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) would ask for the resignation of Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit for her involvement in the Commonwealth Games bungling and charges of corruption against Delhi government in the forthcoming 11th monsoon session of Delhi Legislative Assembly.

Malhotra said, ‘After ignominious defeat in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi’s elections, the Chief Minister of Delhi is bent upon misleading the Delhiites through false promises and by spending crores of rupees on newspaper advertisements, which BJP will strongly oppose.’

Confirming the demand of resignation, a former Delhi BJP president Harshvardhan said, ‘We will demand Chief Minister’s resignation as recent orders of the additional chief metropolitan magistrate on a complaint to file FIR and investigate against Dikshit and then UD minister Raj Kumar Chauhan has proved her corruption charges. There are other important issues also but this time we would press hard for CM’s resignation.’

While addressing a conference on Monday, Speaker of Assembly, Yoganand Shastri said, ‘The session will commence from 4 September and will conclude on 7 September. By and large four sittings will be held during this session.’

Discussion on the increase in the electricity tariff, status of unauthorised colonies, complete handover of Delhi Jal Board in the private hands, grave issue of water-logging on the roads maintained by the three municipal corporations, non-cleaning of rain water drains, spread of epidemic during monsoon and other issues would be discussed by members of Legislative Assembly.
