There seems to be no end to the confusion over BJP’s chief ministerial candidate for the upcoming Delhi assembly elections. On Thursday, the party’s national president Rajnath Singh passed the buck to the party’s central parliamentary board, which is often referred by him as the final decision making body on BJP’s prime ministerial candidate for the 2014 Lok Sabha election.

When asked about the chief ministerial candidate of the party for the November elections, Rajnath said, ‘The central parliamentary board will take a decision at an appropriate time.’
Singh was at the North Delhi Municipal Corporation’s civic centre to inaugurate the medical college of the corporation.

The confusion over the chief ministerial candidate of party in Delhi is spread across all ranks of party because city BJP chief Vijay Goel is accused of running the party in an ‘autocratic style’. There have been reports that senior leaders of the party are not confident about Goel’s leadership and hence are not announcing his name for the post.

According to sources, former city BJP president Harsh Vardhan is emerging as a consensus candidate for the post and is likely to be made the chief of the campaign committee in for the elections. A faction is reportedly pushing hard for Harsh Vardhan’s candidature. He is known to be close to some RSS leaders.
Meanwhile, before inaugurating the North Delhi Municipal Corporation Medical College, Singh interacted with the first batch of 50 medical students. ‘A man is known for his work not just words. I hope talent and efficiency of the medical students would be exploited to the utmost extent so that they could serve the country,’ said Singh.

On his guidance South DMC and East DMC also announced that would be opening medical colleges in their jurisdiction.
‘The opening of this college is an answer to all those who point fingers at the working of the corporations,’ said Azad Singh, mayor North DMC. He agreed with the proposal to name the college after former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
Millennium Post had reported on 28 June, 2012, that the medical college would be named after Vajpayee.
