BJP mulls over FDI in poll-ready Gujarat

Apart from witnessing the high voltage political battle in the state, Gujarat is also the place where top Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP) leaders have been busy making strategies to fight Foreign Direct Investment in retail in the Parliament during the extended weekend.

Parliament is set to debate and vote on FDI in retail on Wednesday and most of the top leaders of the LS and RS have been camping in camping in Gujarat canvassing support for Modi, hopeful of getting the mandate for the third time.   
   
This included senior leader Advani, Sushma Swaraj, leader of Opposition in LS, Arun Jaitley, leader of Opposition in the RS. Jaitley and Advani are still in Gujarat and  are expected to return the national capital by Monday evening, while Swaraj has returned. Many more top leaders are still in the poll-bound state and are supposed to be back by the time the Parliament resumes on Tuesday. Sources said that since most of the leaders were in Gujarat for the last few days, there were not much political activities regarding FDI and strategies in the Parliament in Delhi, rather it was happenning in Gujarat alongside assembly election campaign.

'For the last few days, almost all the top party leaders have been in Gujarat for the assembly election and so not much political developments happenned in Delhi. Since they all are there, they are in touch about FDI debate and vote as well as further strategies in the Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha,' said a party functionary.
