Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Sushma Swaraj, on Saturday inaugurated the newly-constructed Kedar Nath Sahni Auditorium, developed by the engineering department of North Delhi Municipal Corporation at ‘C’ Block in Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Civic Centre.

‘This auditorium will add grace to the civic centre complex which has shaped up as one of most important landmarks of the city,’ said Swaraj and suggested the corporation to put a plaque at the auditorium with information about Kedar Nath Sahni.

The auditorium will be available on rent for individuals and private sector organisations to hold functions on affordable charges. Speaking on the occasion city BJP chief Vijay Goel, said that the corporation must keep the rent as low as possible so that even small organisations could conduct their events in this auditorium.

Former Delhi BJP chief Vijender Gupta who was chairman of standing committee when the civic centre complex was conceptualised informed that this complete complex of 12 lakh square metre was developed at a cost of Rs 650 crore and so far the corporation has earned Rs 1,806 crore from the complex by giving one block to the Income Tax department.
