What major work have you done for your constituency?
We have approved redevelopment plan for Walled City. Apart from that there were many development works that were done by the Congress government at state level.
Why will the people of Delhi vote for you this time after they rejected the Congress in the assembly polls in December last year?
People voted for a new party, which made tall claims and sold dreams to people. Unfortunately, this new party was nothing but a bubble, which exploded in 49 days. They made false promises to the people and ran away when they were given a chance. People have understood this and will surely give Congress a chance, which has always stood for people and their problems.
Will the Arvind Kejriwal factor matter in the Lok Sabha elections in Delhi?
As people have witnessed a house without foundation falls flat. The people of Delhi have felt cheated. Kejriwal did not even fulfill a single promise for which he got the mandate.
Is there a Narendra Modi wave in Delhi?
No there is no such wave in the city. It has been manufactured by big advertisements made by them. Actually the people of Delhi had given a fractured mandate to BJP in last elections. After assembly elections people of Delhi are disturbed as no one is talking about the developmental works in the city but are just busy pulling each other’s legs.
Who is your main opponent-BJP or AAP?
We consider BJP as our main opponent, as AAP is just a bubble which is about to burst soon.
Do you have any specific agenda for these elections?
As far as revamping of Shahjahanabad is concerned it is under the tender process. It will start very shortly. I have visited the constituency 574 times over the last five years. I have detailed reports of progress reports, which have been drawn up from all ten assembly constituencies.
There is an anti-incumbency mood in the people. How you will convince them to vote for you?
No doubt during the last assembly election there was anti-incumbency wave. Now people are realising that Congress has performed, and their confidence will be drawn to us. I am getting a good response during the campaign.
