BJP forms 18-member committee ahead of polls

The members of the committee include Rajya Sabha MP Vijay Goel, and all seven Lok Sabha members from Delhi - Harsh Vardhan, Manoj Tiwari, Parvesh Verma, Udit Raj, Ramesh Bidhuri, Meenakshi Lekhi and Maheish Giri.

“Door-to-door campaigning and connections with people personally has been a custom in the Jana Sangh and I urge all of you to do the same in Delhi,” said Shah, addressing the party office bearers at the BJP head-office in Delhi. The BJP chief claimed that as per his ‘internal reports’, BJP will form the government in Delhi and that the public was ‘extremely satisfied’ with the work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the last six months. “This is why BJP has won in four states,” he added further.

Two influential counsellors — Ashish Sood and Rekha Gupta, both general secretaries in Delhi BJP, were also given seats in the committee. The other members include Vijay Sharma, the BJP organisational general secretary of Delhi, state BJP president Satish Upadhyay and former chiefs Mange Ram and Vijender Gupta, Nand Kishore Garg, Jagdish Mukhi, Anil Jain and Vijay Kumar Malhotra.

A resolution concerning some important issues like corruption, inflation, electricity, water, and safety of women was also passed at the meeting.
