After facing unprecedented defeat in the Bihar assembly election, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is getting ready for the assembly polls in West Bengal, which is due in 2016. Despite the ruling party at the Centre has no major base in the state, which is under the rule of Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, the saffron party is preparing its strategy to mark its presence this time.
With an objective to make people aware about presence of BJP in the state, the party has planned to hold a series of rallies at the length and breadth of the state. According to party insiders, the party would hold 20 to 30 rallies in January. The series of rallies would come to an end with a grand public meeting in the Capital city Kolkata on January 31.
“Kolkata rally would be addressed by party’s national president Amit Shah, who will blow the poll bugle for the West Bengal assembly polls,” the party insider said. With the aim to make its strong presence, senior party members as well as cabinet ministers will camp in the state. The ministers have also been asked to propagate the achievements of Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led NDA government among the masses. According to sources, the party has divided the state’s 294 assembly seats into A, B, and C categories to make a good show. In the A category, the party has included those 70 seats, where party candidates had had performed well during the 2014 Lok Sabha polls by standing at second or third position.
To motivate party workers, the party has also planned to hold different programmes at 77,000 polling booths till February 21. It’s worth mentioning that Central leadership of BJP has also replaced
prabharis of all 29 districts of the state, after replacing West Bengal BJP president Rahul Sinha with RSS’s man Dilip Ghosh.
