BJP, AAP protest outside Sonia, PM’s residences

Members of the BJP Mahila Morcha protested outside Congress president Sonia Gandhi's residence on Sunday against the brutal rape of the five-year-old girl. The protesters were detained by the police and later realeased. The BJP Mahila Morcha demanded tougher laws and a speedy trial for rape cases.

The women protestors broke the police barricade and gathered outside Sonia Gandhi’s residence raisingslogans against the laxity of the system and demanded capital punishment for rape convicts.

The protesters were later detained and taken to the Parliament Street police station, but were subsequently released.

Meanwhile, members of the Aam Aadmi Party tried to break the barricades and enter the high-security zone of the Prime Minister’s residence at 7, Race Course Road on Sunday evening, demanding the suspension of Delhi police commissioner Neeraj Kumar. They too were detained by the police.

Earlier on Sunday, about 100 odd members of the Aam Admi Party (AAP) protested outside the Delhi police headquarters, demanding the resignation of Delhi police commissioner Neeraj Kumar.
