A 51-year-old businessman escaped unhurt when a group of unidentified men opened fire on his car in North-west Delhi’s Netaji Subhash Place area on Wednesday afternoon. Preliminary investigation suggests that Anil Gupta, a small-time businessman who owns a shop of adhesive tapes had received an extortion call of Rs 50 lakh in the past but took no action. Police have not ruled out the possibility of personal enmity or business rivalry against the businessman.
According to cops, while driving his Maruti Swift car towards his shop near D-Mall in Netaji Subhash Place area, he heard a gunshot and a bullet missing him shattered through the car’s window. Police have registered a case under attempt to murder and Arms Act at the Netaji Subhash Place police station against unknown persons.
