New Delhi: The government is planning to convene Winter Session of the Parliament after the ongoing assembly polls in five states come to an end on December 7. According to sources, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ananth Kumar, who passed away on early Monday, had discussed with Rajya Sabha Chairman Venkaiah Naidu about holding Winter Session just after assembly elections get over.
"Kumar had called on Rajya Sabha chairman at his residence after Monsoon Session of the Parliament was adjourned sine die and had requested to convene the Winter Session just after the conclusion of assembly elections in states," a source said.
The session, which is expected to be very short, is likely to be stormy as Opposition is ready to take on the government over key issues such as Rafael deal, CBI controversy, RBI row, etc. On the other, the government is hopeful of utilising the session by passing some key legislation such as Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Amendment Bill, 2018, DNA Technology (Use and Application) Regulation Bill, etc.
