Mumbai Rains Upates: Rain batters city, local train services affected

Mumbai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Thane and Palghar with forecast of 'extremely heavy' rainfall at isolated places on Sunday. According to weather experts, due to UAC (Upper Air Cyclonic Circulation) in Arabian Sea and Bay Low, Mumbai, Thane and Palghar will are likely to receive heavy rainfall till Monday morning.

Five persons drowned in three separate incidents at Navi Mumbai, Palghar and Thane as since Friday. While five bodies have been recovered, another person feared dead in Navi Mumbai is yet to be traced.

On Saturday, Mumbai traffic authorities have cautioned citizens against leaving their houses. More than 2,800 police personnel were deployed to ease the situation for commuters.
