Job creation for youth is govt’s top priority for next five years: Kejriwal
New Delhi: In a major announcement aimed at addressing unemployment, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convenor and Delhi former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal declared that generating jobs for the youth would be the government’s top priority for the next five years. Speaking during an election campaign, Kejriwal highlighted the progress made by his government over the past decade while stressing the urgent need to tackle unemployment in the national capital.
“Over the past ten years, we have worked hard to address the difficulties in people’s lives. In the fields of education, healthcare, electricity, water, and roads, we have made significant progress,” Kejriwal said. However, he expressed concern about the growing problem of unemployment, which he said was causing immense distress to families across Delhi.
“Our children, despite being educated, are sitting at home, searching for jobs. Some of these children, at times, fall into bad company and end up getting involved in criminal activities. Today, families are suffering and are deeply distressed due to unemployment,” he added.
Kejriwal vowed to make job creation his government’s top agenda, alongside continuing improvements in education, healthcare, infrastructure, and other sectors. “Over the next five years, while continuing the work we have done in education, healthcare, electricity, water, roads, sewage, and metro services, my top priority will be to eliminate unemployment from its roots,” he said.
Highlighting his government’s achievements, Kejriwal revealed that the Delhi government provided employment to 12 lakh youth during the COVID-19 pandemic when the economy was severely affected. “At that time, through efforts made by the Delhi government, we managed to provide employment to 12 lakh children,” he noted.
He also pointed to the success of AAP’s government in Punjab, stating, “In just two years, we have provided government jobs to over 48,000 children and facilitated private-sector job opportunities for more than 3 lakh children. We know how to create jobs, and our intentions are pure.”
The Delhi former Chief Minister emphasised the expertise of his team in tackling unemployment. “I have assigned my team, which includes highly educated, committed, and patriotic individuals, the task of working on a comprehensive plan to tackle unemployment in Delhi,” he said.
Kejriwal called for public support to achieve this mission. “With the cooperation of Delhi’s two crore residents, just as we have achieved historic progress in other fields, I am confident that we will eliminate unemployment from Delhi in the next five years. I need your support and blessings for this mission,” he concluded.
