Delhi police arrest Army Major for murder of colleague's wife

New Delhi: Delhi Police on Sunday claimed that it had arrested an Indian Army Major from Uttar Pradesh for his involvement in killing a woman about whom he was obsessed and wanted to marry her. The accused identified as Nikhil Handa was absconding after the incident which raised suspicions in the mind of the cops and during investigation his role in the murder was confirmed.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Vijay Kumar told Millennium Post that the accused was obsessed with the woman who was the wife of another Army major and used to call her several times in her phone.

The accused Nikhil, who was posted at Dimapur, Nagaland, had came to Delhi for his son's medical treatment. "The accused first attacked the woman with a sharp object in his car and later tried to run over her," said the DCP.

During investigations, the police recovered a Swiss knife. The cops said that during the investigation, the deceased's husband suspected Handa's behind the crime after which a dedicated police team was tasked for his search. The accused's car was also on the radar of police.

The wife of an Indian Army major was found dead on Saturday with her throat slit on a street at Brar Square in south-west Delhi near the cantonment area.
