New Delhi: Delhi Police on Friday questioned Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal for over three hours in connection with the alleged assault on Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash in February. Reacting about the city police move, the Chief Minister said that the Lieutenant Governor and Delhi Police continuously tried to disrupt their work.
Police sources said that some of the facts that Kejriwal was questioned about included decision to convene the late-night meeting with Prakash, the sequence of events that led to the assault and the trigger for the incident.
A six-member team led by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Harendra Singh began questioning the chief minister at his camp office at 5.10 pm and finished the questioning around 8.20 pm, the police sources said.
While some members of the team arrived at the chief minister's office around 4.40 pm to set up the recording equipment, Singh arrived at 5 pm. During the questioning that took place in the drawing room, police sources claimed that CM was cooperative during the investigation. But at the same time he evaded many of the questions.
There is also a possibility that he can be questioned again. The proceedings of the questioning were video-recorded by the police.
Reacting to the questioning, the Delhi Chief Minister posted a statement through his official Twitter account which stated, "In the last few years AAP led government is working for the development of the Capital. The party and the government have also gained a lot of blessings from the people. But the Central government through the LG and Delhi police has continuously tried to disrupt our work. Ultimately all the cases against AAP MLAs and ministers fall flat in the court of law."
