New Delhi: A special CBI court here on Wednesday sent former Finance Minister P Chidambaram to Tihar Jail in judicial custody till November 13, for 14 days in connection with the ED's INX Media money-laundering case.
But, in what has come to be known as the senior Congress leader's fashionable way of speaking to reporters outside the courtroom every time he is sent to custody, he took a jibe at the government over allowing European Union MPs to visit Kashmir. He said, "European Union MPs may be invited to parliament to speak in favour of the government. Who knows?"
While special Judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar struck down the Enforcement Directorate's plea for one more day of police custody, he remanded the veteran politician to judicial custody under all the existing conditions allowed by the court when he was earlier sent to Tihar.
