27-year-old cab driver stops fleeing robbers… shot dead

New Delhi: A 27-year-old cab driver Mohit paid with his life when he tried to resist an armed robbery in Delhi's Anand Vihar. The robbers, unable to flee from his grip, fired at him. Mohit was rushed to the hospital where he succumbed to his injuries on Friday night.

The incident occurred at Anand Vihar when bike-borne robbers snatched the bag of a mannamed Surender at around 8:45 pm. Surrender, who had just collected the payment of 8 lakhs for his employer dealing in copper business, was stopped and looted.

However, the robbers were caught into heavy traffic. The victim Surender tried to catch hold of the robbers.

Mohit, a cab driver who was standing nearby, too rushed to catch the robbers. Physically strong, Mohit caught the robbers who tried to flee.

They promptly took out a pistol and shot at Mohit before fleeing with the bag. Mohit,a resident of Jagatpuri who working at Jagriti Enclave, succumbed to his injuries in the hospital.

"A case of murder has been registered. Our investigation points to the involvement of criminals across the border from UP. Our teams are conducting raids in areas close to the border," said DCP (Shahdara)Meghna Yadav.
