Big sandalwood haul; none arrested

Five tonnes of sandalwood, valued approximately at Rs 1 crore, were recovered from Hasimara area on Saturday. A combined team of jawans of Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) and forest rangers raided a house in Paschim <g data-gr-id="9" data-style="color: #3b3b3b; font-size: 11px;">Satari</g> locality of Hasimara and seized the sandalwood, a forest official said. The sandalwood was estimated to be priced at Rs 1 crore in international market, the official said adding it could be possibly taken to Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu having a huge market. Police were on a manhunt as the cops did not find anyone during the raids.
