Bharadwaj’s wife back in list of suspects after arrest of two contract killers

Update: 2013-04-02 01:11 GMT
After the arrest of all four contract killers, including the driver and the owner of the car, the needle of suspicion is back on Ramesh Kumari, wife of murdered BSP leader-Deepak Bharadwaj (62),  who was shot dead by three armed assailants at his farmhouse recently.

In a recent edition, Millennium Post had also published that the slain BSP leader’s wife was under the scanner. The story had reported that Deepak Bharadwaj’s wife Ramesh Kumari was allegedly unhappy with her husband’s planned unequal distribution of property between the couple’s two sons, Hitesh and Nitesh.

On Monday, a source in police said that Ramesh Kumari used to run a school in Delhi that was part of the 10 per cent property that Bharadwaj had handed-over to her. ‘The secretary of the school, who has been identified as Daljeet, is alleged to be a relative of the main shooter—Sunil alias Sonu who had surrendered before Patiala Court,’ the source added.

Which has brought  Kumari back in the circle of suspicion. Not only this, Kumari has connections with the owner of the Skoda car used in the crime as well. Rakesh, who has been arrested, hails from the same village as Kumari. Earlier during the interrogation, Rakesh had told the police that he got Rs 8 lakh from Sunil to buy a car.

‘After the arrest of Purushottam and Sunil, they have disclosed that Purushottam had given Rs 2,000 to Amit (driver) to be a part of the contract killing on 26 March. A few days back, Sunil went to Purushottam to inform him that he is going to his village to kill someone with whom he had some personal enmity,’ the source added.

The source said when Sunil approached him, Purushottam had already got the contract for Bharadwaj’s killing.

‘He was also given advance money to arrange a car, shooters and the weapons. He asked Sunil to come along with him to plan the shootout. He had promised Sunil to pay him Rs 50,000, but so far he had not given Sunil his share,’ the source added.

During the interrogation, the two (Purushottam and Sunil) have not confessed the motive and the name of the main conspirator behind Bharadwaj’s murder. They said that they had fled to Greater Noida through Gurgaon and stayed at a rented accommodation. On Friday, the duo had a word with an advocate of Rohini Court regarding a plea to surrender before the court.

‘We are investigating the matter and interrogating all the four who have been arrested face-to-face. Soon we will nab the main culprit behind the murder,’ an official investigating the case said. According to sources, during subsequent interrogation Purushottamsaid that somone called Rakesh Malik, who hails from Alipur and is alleged to be a pilot had hired him for the contract killing.
