KOCHI: Shillong Lajong FC got off to a winning start with a 4-0 result against Salgaocar FC in the Group C opener of the Federation Cup played at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi on Wednesday.
Seikhohao Tuboi (15’), Redeem Tlang (37’), Cornell Glen (49’) and Taisuke Matsugae (62’) got their names on the scoresheet for the winners.
The Goan side started brightly in the opening few minutes of the match but failed to maintain the momentum for the rest of the first half with Darryl Duffy being crowded out by the Lajong defense.
Mohun Bagan edged past Mumbai FC 1-0 in a group C enoucnter at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, Kochi on Wednesday evening. Christopher Chizoba scored the all important goal in the 27th minute to seal three points for the Kolkata outfit.
