TMC wins co-op election in Kanthi uncontested

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress (TMC) won a cooperative election uncontested in East Midnapore’s Kanthi which is believed to be a stronghold of the Opposition Leader Suvendu Adhikari.

Amid SIR fear among a section of people, the BJP has suffered a major setback ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections in the state. At a time when cooperative week is observed throughout the district of East Midnapore, Trinamool Congress’ winning a cooperative uncontested is significant, believe the political observers. There were a total of 48 seats in the Petua Samabay Krishi Unnayan Samiti. Trinamool Congress fielded candidates in each seat but the BJP and other opposition parties failed to field a candidate in any of the 48 seats.
