Kolkata: Hundreds of Gangasagar Mela-bound pilgrims were getting their health checkup done at the mini-health camp set up at the transit camp at Babughat. State government has made adequate arrangements for the pilgrims at the transit camp in Babughat.
Pilgrims from several parts of Bengal and also from other states are getting 24-hour health services at the camp. Health services are extended at the mini-health camp from January 9. A 24-hour ambulance service is also available at the transit camp. Doctors and nursing personnel are deployed at the camp round-the-clock.
Many important medicines have also been stocked at the camps. These medicines are also being distributed among the people who are requiring them. Several monks have undergone health checkups at the camp. Many of them have also undergone eye tests.
Devotees were also queuing up outside the free health care camp which will continue till January 15. This is for the second time the free health camp has been organised at Babughat where they have helped almost over 500 pilgrims and devotees so far.
Regarding safety measures of the devotees going to Gangasagar Mela, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee outlined the Rs 5-lakh insurance cover for casualties between Jan 9 to 17.
Her government has also arranged for the medical provisions at the fair, which included intensive care facilities, air ambulances, 515 hospital beds with ICUs and 100 ambulances for patient transport.
