Kolkata: A decomposed body of a man wrapped in a sack was found in a garbage vat in Thakurpukur on Wednesday night. The identity of the deceased has not been established so far.
The body, found under mysterious circumstances, has no injury mark on it. According to sources, on Wednesday night at around 8 pm, some local residents spotted a sack in a heap of garbage near the metro pillar number P-8D. When they went close, they found that a man’s hand and legs were visible in the sack. Immediately, they informed the cops at Thakurpukur Police Station. Upon arrival, police found that a man’s decomposed body was wrapped in a sack. After recovering the body, it was sent for autopsy after observing the legal procedures. Cops are trying to establish the identity of the deceased. Also, police are trying to find out whether the man was dumped in the garbage vat after the murder.
Police, however, suspect that the deceased was a vagabond and he might have fallen in the heap of garbage a couple of days ago and died. Cops are waiting for the autopsy report to ascertain the cause of death.
